Welcome to the 3rd coffee in our series of 9 lots purchased from the 2022 Philippine Coffee Auction! We are always looking to highlight Philippine coffee and have almost exclusively bought all of our coffee through Kalsada. In 2022, we faced the challenge of low harvest yields by the farmers we have traditionally worked with, so we sought other mediums and new producers to help us on our mission. Having previously cupped coffee from the Philippine Coffee Quality Competition (PCQC) at the Coffee Expo in April of 2022 while simultaneously winning the US Roaster Championship, we tasted some fantastic lots of coffee. These 9 lots come from various farmers in Bukidnon and Davao del Sur and serve as an excellent reminder that great coffee is being grown all over the Philippines. 

About the Farmer:
Rosemarie Rupecio is one of the board of directors of the Balutakay Coffee Farmers Association (BACOFA). She has been farming coffee since 2012 but started as a vegetable farmer, having a farm in Balutakay. The lower yield of her products urged Rosemarie to transfer to Diwalwal, Compostela Valley. During her stay there, unfortunate events (such as political unrest and landslides) occurred. She had also heard that the market price for coffee beans in Balutakay was slowly increasing. This urged Rosemarie and her husband to return to their hometown and venture into coffee farming, where she joined the cooperative of BACOFA.
