Product Description

A yearly favorite of Nick and Ryan from our green coffee buying team. This is a coffee with a lot of funk yet still somehow manages to be amazingly enjoyable. We lean into those funky flavors when roasting this coffee because they exemplify how great a Wet Hulled coffee can be when there is such attention to detail.

Tano Batak coffee comes from the Lintong and Dolok Sanggul regions near South Lake Toba in Sumatra. At 1,400 to 1,550 masl, this region has the highest coffee growing altitudes in North Sumatra. We are able to source this coffee through Olam Specialty Coffee who works with six collectors that buy coffee directly from small farmers and in weekly village markets. The collectors wet hull the coffee at 28-32% moisture and then dry it in green houses. Once around 11-12% moisture, they run the coffee over densametric tables before sending it to Olam in Medan for hand sorting. Given the exceptional quality of these coffees, each lot is processed separately as microlots.

Peak Freshness, Every Time

Every bag begins with a fresh roast, never warehouse stock. We roast coffee in small batches and ship it shortly after, sealing in the vibrant aroma and flavor so it reaches you at its peak. From roast to doorstep, we make sure your coffee’s journey is as short and as fresh as possible.
